Faced with the devastating impact of Typhoon Yagi and its aftermath, Viettel’s telecommunications network in several provinces and cities was severely affected, causing widespread service disruptions. However, in such difficult circumstances, the spirit of Viettel’s construction soldiers was stronger than ever, determined to respond to information and restore the telecommunications network.
From Typhoon Yagi...
Typhoon Yagi left behind serious consequences for the telecommunications network, with inter-provincial fiber optic cables broken, many telecommunications towers broken and mobile phone connections lost due to widespread power outages. When the storm hit the provinces of Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Hanoi, Hung Yen, Bac Giang, Nam Dinh, etc., it devastated many constructions, agencies, schools, and paralyzed the traffic system, internet, and power grid for many hours.
Viettel construction "soldiers" are not afraid of hardship, accept the mission, quickly restore the network, ensure smooth communication.
Immediately after the storm, Viettel mobilized its maximum resources of more than 8,000 technical staff, 600 - 800 teams from provinces and cities nationwide, quickly deploying information rescue teams. The "Viettel soldiers" appeared everywhere, from fallen trees to deeply flooded areas, working tirelessly, regardless of day or night, rain or wind or living conditions. For Viettel people, every minute is precious, the wait of customers cannot be prolonged.
Field response forces often face a series of difficulties: widespread power outages, many flooded roads that hinder access to the broadcasting station; many power poles are broken and fiber optic cables are broken due to fallen trees, vehicles... but Viettel's technical team is not shaken, quickly moves, immediately starts supporting the locality, transporting a series of cable equipment, batteries, welding machines, and generators to the location of the signal loss to fix the problem.
Local technical teams are urgently responding to roads blocked by fallen trees, seriously affecting the telecommunications network.
Every construction worker always thinks that this is a national mission, shouldering a great responsibility on their shoulders, so "saving" the waves cannot be delayed. Difficulties piled on difficulties, urging the "soldiers" to quickly restore the information network to normalize people's lives.
To the post-storm circulation…
It can be said that unprecedented in history, the lowlands are still trying to repair the damage after the storm, the impact of the storm's circulation continues to "pour down" on the mountainous provinces, causing heavy rain and flash floods in some northern provinces such as Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Ha Giang, Lang Son, Cao Bang, ... causing rocks and soil to fall on the roads and collapse poles, break cables causing loss of communication, houses are submerged in water or buried under mud.
A Viettel construction technician walked more than 10km, carrying 20kg of equipment to repair the transmission line in Sapa - Bat Xat, Lao Cai that was damaged by floods and landslides.
Undaunted, Viettel continued to mobilize hundreds of teams from all provinces and cities, ready to go to the rescue. The harshness of nature was a challenge for the technical brothers. In the urgent situation, the Viettel construction "soldiers" overcame the flood, overcame hardships, with lightning-fast steps and the highest determination, quickly restored the network, and connected information to serve the rescue work.
No matter how much mud there is, it cannot stop the footsteps of the "soldiers".
Many places were isolated, people were in trouble but the rescue team could not reach the people because the only connection was broken. In the face of the "life-threatening" situation, the brothers tried their best to fight every minute and every second to fix the problem, working day and night to carry out the mission.
Despite the dangers, the construction "soldiers" climbed mountains, waded through water, crossed floods, and continuously found ways to open roads to the station even though flash floods were still "lurking", working day and night without rest to weld fiber optic cables and repair infrastructure in areas that were cut off, flooded, and flattened by storms and floods.
The determination, regardless of hardship, to go into dangerous places of Viettel "soldiers"
In dangerous places, with only the weak light of flashlights, under the rain, Viettel soldiers stayed up all night, diligently performing the task of installing and broadcasting new signals. "Viettel will continue to devote all its efforts, the rescue teams and support points are still increasing to restore services as quickly as possible. We also prioritize areas heavily affected by storms and floods," said a Viettel representative.
Up to now, the telecommunications network has been basically restored. Some provinces such as Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, ... affected by the storm have had communication signals again. The number of stations and cable lines with interrupted information in the network in the northern mountainous provinces is currently less than 5%. In particular, stations in Cao Bang and Lao Cai, which are suffering severe consequences after the storm with flash floods, landslides and hundreds of missing people, have successfully resumed broadcasting to maintain rescue work. This demonstrates the determination, not afraid of hardships, going into dangerous places of Viettel's technical teams. And more than that, Viettel "soldiers" have been, are and will continue to journey side by side with people to overcome the challenges of natural disasters, complete assigned tasks and bring life back to a stable and normal orbit./.
