A representative of Viettel Group shared the results achieved with the 5G network.
In addition, Viettel Group is promoting trial deployment with many partners on 5G services. Notably, the cooperation program with VTV to deploy the transmission experience for the upcoming Southeast Asian sports team (SEA Games 31), and then to the 2022 Golf tournament. The Group expects that the technology to help 5G become a reality more realistic, closer to Vietnamese users.
The upcoming strategy of Viettel Group is to promote services on 5G, IoT, cloud computing, edge computing, AI... . That is also the goal for the Group to establish 2 Viettel Innovation Lab rooms, which were opened on August 23, 2021, in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Viettel Innovation Lab is equipped with the most modern equipment for developers, start-ups, researchers to use and develop ideas, evaluate and analyze with Viettel network infrastructure, give business directions... Here, a lot of technology is equipped, provided, and developed for the development community outside Viettel for free.
The international partners that Viettel is working with are Qualcomm, Ericsson, Intel with the most modern tools in Vietnam. The next big projects on self-driving cars, self-driving robots, 5G cameras... are expected to be officially announced early next year and more specific results.
At the same time, Viettel Group is providing a free trial of the 5G network to customers and end-to-end partners. Over the past time, Viettel Group has actively worked with major smartphone companies such as Apple, Samsung, and Oppo to agree on network standards with devices, aiming to deploy 5G as soon as possible.
Although 5G has not been officially operated yet, when the legal documents on frequency, planning, auction procedures for frequency licensing, etc. are completed, after only 3 months, Viettel Group can officially do commercial 5G services in Vietnam.
With "network carriers sharing infrastructure to deploy the same 5G network, basically, operators only need to share about 40,000 transmitting and receiving stations" to be able to cover 5G throughout Vietnam. However, the important factor is that each carrier must provide services for tens of millions of Vietnamese people who need to use 5G networks in the future for video services, AI, IoT, self-driving cars, surveillance cameras, etc...
