The launching ceremony of Viet Solutions contest took place on July 8, 2020 at the Ministry of Information and Communications. Attending the event were Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung, Acting Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Cao Quoc Hung, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc, Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly Committee of Science, Technology and Environment Le Quang Huy and Viettel Group leaders.
Viet Solutions 2020 aims to find creative solutions, help solve social problems, contribute to the implementation of a national digital transformation strategy. In particular, the Ministry of Information & Communications has the role of connecting ministries and branches to solve problems, create markets and development. Viettel with 100 million customers, in 11 international markets will be the unit to help perfect technology products on a national and global scale.

This is a competition for all subjects, from all countries in the world. Candidates who participate in addition to creating an environment to connect with potential partners, can also participate in training courses and support to improve financial management skills; Marketing, call for investment and compete globally.
Speaking at the event, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung said: "Today we press the start button of a contest to find solutions for national digital conversion to accelerate the digital conversion. To help Vietnam lead the way in digital conversion. Aiming at digital transformation to help Vietnam change its ranking, contributing to making Vietnam a prosperous country. This is a national and all-people career, a long way. I call on all of us to join this glorious career. They are organizations and individuals with their problems, a community of digital businesses, and individuals working in the field of digital technology."
Representative of Viettel, Acting Chairman and CEO, Mr. Le Dang Dung affirmed: “Vietnam's problem is many, it is an opportunity for technology companies to join in solving. Solving these problems is to contribute to building the digital citizens, digital society and nation that the Government is aiming for. Once we have the same goal, we can share our advantages, complement each other, and create a resonant resonance in the community.”.
The winner will receive a cash prize of VND 200,000,000. The second and third teams will receive cash of VND 100,000,000 and VND 50,000,000, respectively.
Besides, teams also have the opportunity to sign business cooperation contracts with Viettel Group. Viettel is committed to sponsoring 100% of expenses for the three winning teams participating in the C1 Start-up Cup competition in the US with a total prize value of US $ 50,000 or attending the World Mobile Conference (MWC) 2021 in Barcelona (Depending according to the situation of the Covid-19 epidemic to apply this benefit).
Viet Solutions, jointly organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications and Viettel, will be organized annually.
2019 Contest results
213 products / services of individuals / groups from 18 countries are eligible to take part in the preliminary round - ~ 4 times the number of products in the VietChallenge contest (the annual contest since 2015, prestigious especially in the US for Vietnamese startups worldwide, organized by the Vietnam Youth and Student Association in the United States),
Choose to cooperate with Viettel: 25 products / applications (20 products / applications in Vietnam, 5 products / applications in markets).
Contest rules
Participants: Individuals, groups, businesses living, studying and working in countries around the world with innovative technology products / applications / services that are complete and suitable for contest title.
Exam format by individual or team, group, organization, company. All individual / team members must be at least 18 years old and at least one member can present ideas in English, unless otherwise approved by the Organizing Committee.
The number of products / solutions in the contest is unlimited. However, ideas, not yet a complete product / solution will not be eligible for the exam.
Products / solutions that have been cooperating with Viettel in all markets; Products / solutions that have reached the final of Viettel Advance Solutions Track 2019 will not be able to take part in Viet Solutions 2020.
Products / solutions that are registered or owned by a business are required to register in the Start-up Group. Any mistakes found, organizers are allowed to cancel the contest entitlement of candidates.
Products / solutions winning the VietChallenge Championship of the seasons will not be selected to attend the C1 - Startup international finals in the US.
Submissions will be sent online via the website: http://vietsolutions.net.vn/. Preliminary round will start from 8/7 - 20/9/2020. The 10 teams with the highest scores will be selected to participate in the final round.
From September 21 to October 10, 10 final round teams will be trained in the skills needed for a start-up by Vietnamese and international experts from leading economic universities such as Harvard, International Angel Investment Fund and famous CEOs. These teams will present their solutions and products directly in the final contest.
A mandatory application dossier includes:
- Scheme in the form of presentation slides. The project will focus on the questions: Target market. Market size; Problems exist in this market. The solution of the team; Business model of the team. How to operate the model; Explain the superiority of this solution over the solution being applied; Do you have a sample product, test drive or customer? List the names and roles of all co-founders on the team, briefly summarizing each co-founder's experience and learning process.
- A 1-3 minute video of the team's product business idea.
